Homeownership Initatives

In the city of Piumi I have met a realator or estate agent ss we call them in Brazil.

In the mornings he teaches English at a private school and in the afternoins sells real estate.

Here he is an agent selling plots of land for building or exsisting properties.

He tells me business is booming since the introduction of a Government scheme providing low interest loans to people on a low income to enable them to buy and build on land, or buy an exsisting house an the market.

This is different from the schemes where the Government actually build and sell the properties like the scheme I discussed the other day.

There are people who now invest in building and buying properties to sell yo this type of consumer.

This city is growing fast becaude of this.

The Costs

A property classed as luxury with 3 bedrooms, en suite, family bathroom, kitchen, living room and out door area is priced around $200,000 (real dollars around £66,000).

A property classed as basic with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and living room is priced around $100,000 (real dollars £33,000).

A plot of land to build on is around $60,000 (real dollars £20,000).

There is wealth in the town with coffee plantations, private school and enrepeneur businesses but the majority of the town are employed.

This town is fast developing as people are bringing the types of business above meaning more employment oppertunities and more housing need and aspiration.
