well we have been in Brazil for one week, and what a week its been! We are now settling into the programme and are finding all the visits very interesting and useful in each of our vocations as well as finding out things about the country itself
We have found out that the people are so friendly and welcome you into their homes like you are a favourite relative, and that the food here is very good and is offered at almost every opportunity!
Today we spent our first full day in the small town of Itapecerica. The town is quieter than Itauna and has a comfortable feel about it with some nice local shops, restaurants and bars and also several squares and green spaces for the people of the town to meet their friends and neighbours under the trees.
We visited the music school again first thing. The talent of the young people here is amazing! It is clear they love the music and the atmosphere is one of people eager to learn and share their music.

We had a walk around the town to take in the local scenery, which of course included the pursuit of looking in the various boutiques and shoe/bag shops that are in the town and a short rest in the shade of a little bar overlooking the main square!
We were taken to a beautiful farm hotel for lunch called Hotel Fazenda Palestina. This place although very close to the town, is in a very quiet spot and was as far as I was concerned a little part of heaven! Plants, greenery and trees and gardens! The food and the company of the Rotarians and other friends was also excellent
Below are a couple of photos I took whilst I was there, but unfortunately I did not get a photo of the green humming bird that Lianne caught on camera, but did see this strange bird, just after it was attacking one of the parked cars - for some reason!
After a little down time in the late afternoon the team visited the nearby Rotary Club of Camacho which is about 20km along one of the most twisty roads I have travelled along in a long time!
We did our second presentation here with the much needed help of Rotarians Antonio and Alberto in their role as translators - as there were very few people in the town that understood any English. The club is the youngest in this district - only just one year old and they were very pleased and honoured to receive us. They provided some really good food as well afterwards and gave us small gifts and certificates.
Anyway tchau for now,
Andrea
