Ola!
We are having an amazing time here in Brazil. Our host families have been lovely and have taken us to lots of different places. Yesterday we arrived in Itapecerica which was an hour and a half drive from Itauna. Its a small town but has some lovely sites to see. Lianne, Liz and I were taken to visit a public school and a private school yesterday afternoon and sat in an English lesson at the private school. It was really interesting because the classroom had only a tv screen, individual desks and 1 cupboard. There weren't any displays on the walls but the teacher said the children like it and learn well. The teacher used an interactive programme on the screen that said English vocabulary related to what they were teaching and they sang a song to practise the vowel sounds. It was really interesting to see.
Later on in the day we visited a music school which was right up my street! The school is free for anyone wanting to learn how to read music and play any instruments. It is funded partly by the government and partly by charities. There was a choir practising when we visited and they sang 'siyahamba' which I sang with my school choir last year, so I was amazed! I think it's really great that both the children and adults in this town have this opportunity.
So far on this trip I have already seen some amazing places and met some lovely people. Let the journey continue...
