A quiet day in Brazil !

Today we had a relax day, and after a leisurely morning met up at Ligia's house, one of the Rotarians and also the host for Lianne and Kat.

Here we had a BBQ - very different to the often cold rainy variety of the UK, this one having hot sunshine with our Brazilian hosts and some of the team seeking the shade!  Although I believe that tomorrow England will have an unusual occasion, that of a bank holiday and good weather, so you guys will be enjoying your own sunny BBQ as well perhaps - but don't forget the suncream!!

We had  informal presentation to the host club, in a relaxed atmosphere during the BBQ.

Antonio and Itamar took us to visit the rotary building that they have in the town.  In Brazil often the Rotary clubs have a dedicated building that they build and use for their meetings.  It was very good and a large space where they can hold meetings, social events and also have a kitchen to prepare food.

We then went to visit a couple of churches and looked at the other old buildings around the town.  They are colonial in style.  Below are a couple of photos of the churches and buildings

Tomorrow we move onto Arcos, but we will miss our new friends we have made in Itapecerica!

We have experienced a beautiful friendly relaxed town here with a community that adds to this setting. Looking forward to the next town Arcos to learn all about the people and the place.

We have had such a relaxing time here and visited some schools. Personally for me it was very interesting to see the difference between public and private schools. The schools over here are very different to schools in England. For example what would be our state schools have very little resources - they still have chalk boards!! Where we have interactive white boards and lots more books. There is also a very caring atmosphere in the schools over here although class sizes can be huge with very small classrooms which are very basic.
