Week one: From landing in Minas Gerais, we haven't really stopped.

Brazil is a beautiful country, with many green forested areas. We have travelled from Itauna and are now in Itapecerica. We have visited a school for children and adults with learning difficulties. The children there were very contented and the setting was very well managed with the children and adults receiving appropriate individualised care. The setting is a charity run  organisation, and they manage money effectively. One of the lessons, a maths class, the children were counting with cola/ fanta/ sprite bottle tops. The setting also encourages enterprise, whereby the children make notebooks etc out of recycled paper, which is then sold and the children keep the profits. The setting encourages independence for both children and adults. It was lovely to spend time here and get to know the people here
